Flax seed oil is made up of oil (about 30%), protein, fiber and mucilage. Flaxseed oil is rich in omega 3 fatty acids, omega 6 fatty acids and ALA. Flaxseed oil is also a great source of vitamins, minerals and lignans (which show anti-bacterial and anti-viral characteristics).

Diets of western civilization usually show a lack of omega 3 fatty acids and provides too much omega 6, which can cause different health problems. Flaxseed oil is ideal, because it provides the right ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.

Flaxseed oil - due to it's richness in omega 3 - helps to prevent a range of different health problems, like cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, skin problems, plaque formation, arthritis and maybe even certain types of cancer.

Flax seed oil is also ideal for people with a sensitive stomach. Due to its high percentage of mucilage it acts as a great natural laxative. The fibers in flaxseed oil clean the colon of toxic materials and metabolic waste. It also acts as a buffer for excess stomach acids and has the ability to sooth ulcers and irritable bowel disorders.

You can use flax seed oil, flax seed oil supplements or flax seeds to enrich your diet. If you want to use flax seeds, make sure to grind them, otherwise your body won't be able to absorb the ingredients properly. You can add flax seed oil to your salad, morning cereals, soup or other dishes. 2 tablespoons a day should be sufficient.
